Summary of Courses
Clarkson ITT Pty Limited offers eight Excel courses at present, some of which are available in distance
learning mode through UTS and two of which are available as a bundle for distance learning students. New
Excel courses are under development for
calendar 2009 and 2010, which will add to the range of Excel courses available. Each of the courses is described below
and a link to detailed information on each Excel course is provided in the menu above.
Public offerings for all these Excel courses are available. Information on those courses and venues can be found on the

Five of these Excel course are also available for private in-house bookings. Information on how to organise
these courses and requirements for venues and equipment are given on the

Financial Analysis Certificate
The Financial Analysis Certificate (FAC) is a 48-hour hands-on modelling and analysis course designed for in-class
presentation to professionals in the finance sector who wish to improve their modelling and business analysis skills using Microsoft Excel.
It aims to challenge its students to improve and standardise the techniques and methodology they use in constructing
workbooks whether they be for business, fund or project modelling and valuation, business analysis, forecasting or budgeting.

The Financial Analysis Certificate by Distance Learning (FADL), based on the FAC described above, is a 48-hour hands-on modelling and
analysis course designed for study in distance learning mode by professionals in the finance sector who wish to improve their modelling and

Financial Analysis Systems Certificate
The Financial Analysis Systems Certificate (FAS) is a 48-hour hands-on introduction to
Visual Basic for Applications (VBA‡) programming in Excel specifically for in-class
presentation which is designed for finance professionals who need to automate their models and applications, add
custom functions or extend the user interface.
It assumes no prior knowledge of VBA, introduces the language, common programming concepts and demonstrates proven
approaches to the development of applications in Excel using VBA.

Financial Analysis Certificate by Distance Learning Extension Program
The Financial Analysis Certificate Extension Program (FADLEP) is a 24-hour hands-on introduction to Visual Basic for
Applications (VBA‡) programming in Excel, designed specifically for study in distance
learning mode.
It aims to teach the basics of VBA and an approach to application development in Excel, to bootstrap the experienced
Excel modeller into application development.
The Financial Analysis Certificate by Distance Learning - Advanced Professional (FADLAP) is a
72-hour packaged combination of the FADL and FADLEP which is available only for distance learning study.

Charting Master Class
The Charting Master Class (CMC) is an 8-hour hands-on Excel course designed
for in-class presentation to familiarise the student with basic through advanced knowledge of the charting engine in Excel.
It covers all the basics quickly, then examines the advanced charting settings and types and
provides guidance on how to build and structure the more common types of special purpose charts.
It includes important functions and formulas and layout ideas to improve the effectiveness of reporting worksheets by improving
the layout and design of data storage areas and techniques to facilitate the speedy analysis and reporting of summary and performance data.

Key Topic Lecture Series
The Key Topic Lecture Series (KTLS) is a series of ½-day hands-on lectures that address key topics in model design,
which are available for presentation both in-house and at professional conferences, or as part of corporate
conferences and training programs.
They aim to focus the attendees' attention on key subjects in model design, demonstrate useful techniques and
inspire them to evolve their technique. The lectures are reasonably fast paced, but each is accompanied by a 50 -
60 page course booklet which includes a CD-ROM and worked versions of all the material covered.
This lecture series is also a useful adjunct to our standard courses, providing a set of lectures and workshops
which can assist in the ongoing training programs of client organisations.

Occasional Series
The Occasional Series (OSW) are workshops and lectures which are arranged on an
occasional basis to target
specific topics in modelling and spreadsheeting.
With the introduction of Microsoft Office 2007, we are currently offering a ½-day workshop entitled Transition to Office 2007
which introduces the new features in the Microsoft Applications and User Interface.

VBA is the programming language provided by Microsoft to enhance and extend the functionality of
Office applications, including Excel and the workbooks and models created with it. The routines and programs created with VBA are often referred to as "macros".
