Financial Analysis Certificate
The Financial Analysis Certificate (FAC) is a 48-hour hands-on modelling and
analysis course designed for professionals in the finance sector who wish to improve their modelling and
business analysis skills using Microsoft Excel.
It aims to challenge its students to improve and standardise the techniques and
methodology they use in constructing workbooks whether they be for business, fund or project modelling and
valuation or for business analysis, forecasting or budgeting.
It teaches key techniques and essential understanding of the functions and features in
Excel placing them into an effective framework. The FAC proposes and demonstrates core elements of an
effective methodology which will lead to an increase in productivity and confidence in using Excel, whilst
reducing the modeller's error rate.
The methodology is keenly focused on maximising the flexibility of a model, to support third-party use and
audit and to maximise flexibility for sensitivity analysis, whilst at the same time reducing the overall
complexity of the model and formulas used.
The courseware includes a 360+ page text together with a CD-ROM which includes the
sample files, worked solutions for most problems and some reference documents.
A detailed course outline is included in the course brochure, a link to which is included at the bottom of this page.
This course is available for in-class teaching publicly at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and privately through Clarkson ITT
and UTS, see Public Courses and Private Courses web pages.
The course is now available publicly through Clarkson ITT in
Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.
It is also available via distance learning for non-Sydney residents as the Financial Analysis Certificate by Distance Learning
(FADL) through UTS, see Public Courses web page.
